Hi all,
I'm a long time lurker in admiration of the talent of this group. Anyway, a friend of mine recently lost nearly everything she owns in a fire, including clothes and a sewing machine. I'm looking for recommendations of a good and reasonably priced machine I can send down to her. (I have a Brother of some sort, but I'm not 100% happy with it [probably because of user error].) Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

Hallo :) This is my first post here. I got a new Moleskine journal for Christmas and I wanted to share a few of my drawings so far. I've also got a couple of other sketchbooks going at the moment, and I'll probably post some stuff from those another time.

i'm at the square books coffee place as usual and i am a bit embarrassed to be reading richard ford here. i feel as though i am seeing a live band while wearing their souvenir t shirt. it could be worse, i could be reading faulkner. so i make sure i read with the book lying flat on my lap or held parallel with the table much like the way grown people read tween novels; harry potter and twilight while on the new york city subway. i take my sip of coffee at the end of every mini chapter (indicated by the initial caps times new roman), lay the book down, turn the binding away from the majority in the room, flip the book over, and place my mug directly on top of the portrait richard ford. Easily recognized face around these parts. these people sell postcards of his likeness.

the mississippi department of human service is much more relaxed than the food stamps office in manhattan. people seem more content, less deflated, more accustomed.

i need to limit the amount of sports analysis tv shows i watch. it's only heightened my awareness of receding hairlines.

i've been watching this community for quit some time now, but never really have taken the time to post something so here my first post! ^^ i've been doing quit some t shirt(and more, i also sew thing myself) surgery now, and wanted to show this one, i only used a scissor for it so it's quit easy to make when you don't have a sewing machine.
here's the before pic (2005) as you see its way to loose around my waist. i think i haven't worn it ever again after this photo, until i found out i could make something out of it (and i stopped wearing pink, now this is the only thing pink that i have left haha):

[Jan 04 2010 8:47pm] |

by this point, everyone has either done a yearly wrap up or new year's resolutions post. i'm a little behind on the times but here are my resolutions!
- document all movies seen & books read. - watch a movie i haven't seen once a week. - read 2+ books a month. - work out (home or gym) 5 days a week. - geocache once a month with my brother. (google this!) - throw out/donate what i trully do not use/need in my life. - set aside more time for creativity (sketch, journal, arts & crafts) - spend LESS money (no more target shopping sprees)! - learn to cook! - get a dog :) - get full time job doing something i LOVE & look forward too. - find man of my dreams...we'll see about this one.

Where'd the memories go? =( I used to come on here a looong time ago and recently got the web back. I was just wondering what happened to the memories. I used to refer to them a lot and was wondering if they got redirected somewhere?

in between starting and finishing this, I sewed an entire quilt by hand. you'd think this would get done. now I have a sewing machine! mum got me one for christmas. So this may be the last thing I ever hand-sew!
